An Idea To Consider If You Want to Change How You Approach Your Life

Self-Awareness & Growth

Stop Waiting…

The time is now to change your life for the better. To make the decision to commit to unveiling your best, challenging yourself, and putting yourself out there to create the life you desire.

But the change that’s going to be demanded of you isn’t going to come easily…

Change is hard, difficult, and almost always “painful.” We know this. It’s why we become so habituated and accustomed to our routines. To keep ourselves in that “zone of comfort.”

And so, I invite you to take this on, as a family, parent, or player. I want you to consider this idea as a potential limitation that’s holding you back from taking on and embracing that “change” that you know deep down might be able to produce a life that’s more meaningful than the one you find yourself living right now.

Not tomorrow, not in a week, not next month, and not at the start of next year.

Today is the day you’re going to stop waiting to give yourself permission to live the life you deserve.

Why?

Because life is going to pass you by regardless of how you choose to spend the limited time you’re given. The world won’t put on a hold, press pause, or wait until you’re fully ready to grasp every opportunity to live and absorb the opportunities to excel that continue to pass you by.

The world won’t stop and wait for you to feel ready, for you to finally choose to be happy, to bet on yourself, to take the first step towards your grandest ambitions, or for you to finally put your foot on the brakes and enjoy the fruits of everyday life.

Your time to live, experience, enjoy, grow, and harvest the abundant potential that surrounds you will only continue to tick away. Which is a shame if we’re not optimizing those moment’s, isn’t it?

Take a moment to observe how busy your mind is every day as you operate throughout your daily actions. You hurry through your routines, rush through your tasks, and speed through your days just “trying to make it by.”

But have you ever considered  the fact that the same busyness occupying your mind is also occupying the minds of those around you? Are you able to accept the reality that no one is thinking about you, watching you, or judging you like you may think they are?

No one cares about your problems, dreams, worries, or desires as much as you do.

No one is concerned, or even has a clue, about what kinds of thoughts swirl around your mind, good or bad. Everyone is living a life of their own. And each uniquely brings challenges, worries, and stresses of their own, too. Everyone has their own obstacles to overcome, their own monsters to squash, their own skeletons hiding in the closet that need to be dealt with. Therefore, don’t magnify your problems out of fear that you’re under some spotlight. Because in the grand scheme of things, many of which we label as problems aren’t really problems at all.

Your only real problems are the thoughts you’re having about your problems.

Whatever is acting as the obstacle that’s standing in your way, it’s only your thoughts about that obstacle that are creating real problems for you…

Those narratives you’re repeating are what’s creating your internal friction. It’s the stories and perspectives you’re repeating to yourself about what you’re experiencing that’s causing the vast majority of the inner turmoil you’re experiencing.

Can you see how this may apply to you? And do you think what I’m saying is true?

Do you ever take time out of your day to contemplate the impending insecurities your peers may have? Do you ever deeply think about the issues that may be presenting themselves in the lives of someone you know? Or how they might be able to deal with those very problems? I’d like to believe you don’t.

Why? Because you’re too concerned about yourself.

About the insecurities you’re working on overcoming, about the issues you’re attempting to resolve, or about the problems in your life that you’re trying to find solutions to. And this is relieving more than anything else because we can assume, based on how we operate as individuals, that most others are reacting and acting to their lives in similar fashion. Those you know, or don’t, aren’t using their precious parcels of time thinking about you!

Each person, again, is doing their own thing. Worrying about their own issues. Focusing on their own problems and yet still, they too, more than likely, find a way to mismanage the thoughts in their heads, over exemplifying their prominence which causes them to feel stuck and unnecessarily stressed out in their own little worlds. Just like you and I.

And so, I’d like to pose the question: Is this necessary?

To put our anxieties, worries, fears, and doubts under a microscope? Because in relation to the rest of the world, they’re practically irrelevant. Is that not true? In 100 years (and likely much less) we’re going to be dead, gone, and forgotten. And as brutal as that sounds, that’s not meant to make you feel worse about your existence. Rather, it’s meant to remind you that we need not worry about inconsequential minor things like what we should wear, whether or not someone likes you, or how we measure up against our peers.

Let it all go… stop worrying. Start acting. Start living. Start choosing the life you want.

Learning how to navigate your thoughts (to better the quality of your daily experience) can be seen as one of the most magnificent strengths to acquire.

Spending needless time in undesired states, experiencing disempowering emotions when the worries that are creating them don’t really matter, or have any true substance, is no way to live. Consider, again, just how tiny and insignificant your problems might just be. Become aware of your most irrational thoughts and the unhelpful stories that are deterring the quality of your days as often as you can. Notice the ones that reoccur and steal the great amounts of joy and cheerfulness that are yours to be experienced in this very moment. Because if you don’t take the time to see them, hear them, and change them, the world isn’t going to wait for you to do so. People will continue to go about their business. The world will continue to spin and the days you have left to live your best life will continue to tick away, and they’ll disappear faster than you realize.

And it’s often these narratives that halt us from taking the productive actions that our best selves are begging to produce, beneath the surface of our awareness. Whether that’s to go to that class, to start that business, to start working out, to start training extra, to start eating better, to read that book, to write that story, to go for that run, to ask that person out, to overcome our fears, to let go of our worries, and to be the person we’re dying to become

Yet, unfortunately, many of us never get there… and far too often. All because of the disarray of thoughts and stories that we’re repeating to ourselves that don’t really hold any true weight over our life’s outcomes. And none of which support our mightiest missions and help us close the gap between our grandest visions of who we know we can become and our realities.

So then what?

I’m asking, or rather pushing you to stop wasting these all-too-precious moments of your life waiting for the world to create an environment that suits your daily optimization.

  • Don’t wait to convert your disparaging thinking patterns to more emboldening ones.
  • Don’t wait any longer to discover what’s holding you back from elevating yourself beyond your conditioned limitations.
  • Don’t wait to figure out what you need to be doing to optimize your experience.
  • Don’t wait any longer to take control of your life, to live on your own terms, and to choose the happiness and contentment that is there for you to experience, right now… because the world certainly won’t.

Before you know it, you’ll be old and gray, frail and wrinkly (if you’re fortunate enough to live that long), looking back on your life wishing you either:

  1.  Took more productive actions towards creating the life you desired or…
  2.  Regretting the fact that you wasted so much of your time worrying about trivial things. Things that probably never will even conspire anyway.

The time is now to be who you want to be. To choose the life you want. To start loving fully. To act out of true love for yourself and those around you.

We all have the opportunity to choose. To choose whether we want to be proactive and act on the one and only life we get to live, or fall to the victims mindset of someone who’s reactive and lets life’s randomness throw them around. Who worries incessantly about how they’ll be perceived, so they never commit to the course of action that they know will bring about better results.

How you show up today is fully in your control, despite every trial that’s set on your path that isn’t. Your attitude is in your control. Your response is in your control. It’s all on you…

It’s all up to you to stop waiting.

Because the world surely won’t.
